I chose a photographer last night after the medicine that controls my impulsiveness wore off.
I didn’t choose a safe photographer. I didn’t even choose a cheap photographer—-he’s still $1500. I chose one whom I’ll have to fly in from New York. He’s not even a wedding photographer—-he does those hipster fashion photos, you know?
So no, we don’t get a photo album package.
We won’t get a tin print.
He won’t even give us prints. We have to get them printed ourselves.
What we will get is amazing art. We’re commissioning an amazing artist to walk around our wedding and make art, which he will then give to us on a DVD. To keep. Period. It’s our art. The way it should be, I say.
This is what I’m buying. And this. You should really look at all of it. It sort of blows my mind.
And I pray to God that in the end, it’s worth it.
So, wedding photography.
I hate photos of me. Dan hates photos of himself. We’re weird looking. So we’re looking for a photographer who can take the edge off the weird. Like a level 26 Ansel Adams Dark Magician Wizard. Know anybody like that?
The photographers at the Wedding Expo had fancy white couches and huge books full of photos, but the work looked like it was taken by someone’s cousin with their Rebel on Auto. I have a younger sibling with a 3MP EasyShare who can do that for free. I want art here, people, west-coast vintage shots, like pretty much everything on this blog.
Of course, since we’re not paying for the photography ourselves, we’re gonna need to find ourselves a snappy shooter soon so Dan’s mom can stop freaking out and we can continue onto other pressing matters, like renting the park for the ceremony itself (still) and finding brown suits for the groomsmen…yeah. We have a quite a bit left to do before October.
So, do let me know if you know a true sorcerer of photog who masters the art of taking photos of white people in white clothes. We’d like that very much. But only sort of.
