Early Birds Are Retarded.
Somewhere there is a little boy named Juan who better freaking LOVE his 3rd birthday party, because he just pwned my wedding plans, all of which included renting Park Villa in Riverside Park. Needless to say, it’s booked for October 2nd (but not Oct. 3!) Bummer.
So, it’s gambling time now, kids. The first week of October has historically been lovely, but do we really want to risk having our reception and wedding out in the elements, unprotected, with no standby? In Kansas, that could be disastrous.
So here are our ideal backups…
Perfect conditions:
Riverside Gazebo - We’d keep the food under the gazebo and still get married under the trees, as is our plan.
Less than perfect conditions:
Faith Community Church - My church, and now Dan’s. It’s nice inside, but the 90’s attacked it and stripped it of its lovely pews, leaving only industrial burgundy carpet and chairs in its wake. That’s minus major pretty points right there, folks. But to have the reception in the basement, that’s really where I cringe. This is a typical church basement, complete with white cinder block walls, glaring ceiling lights and ugly support pillars. Not a pretty picture.
But other than that, I’m not sure of any under-budget options, unless we want to move to SG Co Park, which I don’t. The point is to be in Riverside, which is our home and the place I grew up in and love. So…well…any ideas?
