The Start of a Wedding Blog: Where we are.
I get married on 10/2/10. That’s approximately 172, 11 hours away from right now.
And because a crapload of stuff has happened—-but not really—-since February, I give you a timeline, in high definition black and white:
February 2010 - Get engaged. :D
March - Large but limited guest wedding at a church, open reception at Riverside Park, Portland Honeymoon. :/
Mid-March - “You can’t have the wedding in 7 months. Bills! Therapy! Finances!” :,(
Late March - Downsize! Small wedding in the park, 40 people, BBQ afterwards. We won’t invite people with large families or my mom’s side, as it is 40 people in and of itself. Denver for honeymoon. :D
Early April - ”YOU MUST INVITE THE FAMILY!” Says Mom and Grandma. >:(
Now - Large, but still limited-to-family/close friends, wedding, Riverside Park, punch and cake reception, Denver honeymoon.
As far as tangible wedding elements, as of, ah, 10 minutes ago, I have approximately 18 red and white paper lanterns and some random ivory and silver ribbon I’ve never seen in real life.
I have a ring. He has a ring. Neither are officially paid for.
Dan put together a fancy pants guest database for all the guests we assume we’ll invite when we figure out who we actually want to be there.
Bridesmaids are asked.
Groomsmen are…well, they’re decided on.
The officiant exists, though not booked.
A piece of paper is folded on my couch that might resemble a rough draft of an invitation.
And that’s about it. No dress, no cake, no announcements or photos…just that. Sometimes I wonder if any of this is really going to happen….
So, let the panic begin!
